This is an independent project that is supported by Associação Viver a Ciência. It was initiated in 2003 with the belief that communication should be an integral part of a scientist's work. For a researcher it is important not only to communicate with other scientists, but also to be able to talk about their work to society as a whole.

Therefore, this project develops activities to help scientists improve their communication skills. A manual called "Comunicar Ciência" (free download here - only available in portuguese), workshops, meetings and conferences are some examples of initiatives that have helped scientists and/or generally interested people in science communication. 

The "Comunicar Ciência" project, coordinated by Mónica Bettencourt Dias, Sofia Araújo and Ana Godinho, includes an important online tool on its website to promote better scientific communication in Portugal: a section called "ciência & media" (science & media). Developed in a reserved area, it consists of a database of researchers, journalists and science communicators interested in collaborating in science communication activities. Sharing ideas, work and contacts are the main possibilities you can explore in the "ciência & media" section.
